The light rub of a rotor can lead, in spite of the direct affect on the dynamics, to an instability of the rotor by means of a deformation directed to the non-symmetrical heat introduction. In order to attain a better prediction of the effect named after Newkirk, a test stand is planned at the Department of Engineering Desgin and Product Reliability.
